Automotive Bracket
A mounting bracket produced from an engineering plastic and required to carry mechanical load. Because only a low quantity was needed, it was produced without the tooling cost of a metal alternative.
From Problem to Result
The required quantity did not justify a mould or tooling investment for casting or CNC, yet the part's mechanical strength requirements could not be compromised.
Taking the loads it would carry into account, the part was redesigned for FDM in a suitable engineering plastic; wall thickness and print orientation were chosen with mechanical strength in mind.
A bracket that met the requirements was delivered ready for use in a short time, with no tooling or mould cost.

Services Relevant to This Project
One or more of the following services usually come into play in the production journey of a part like this.
Explore More Examples
Functional Enclosure
An enclosure designed to protect electronic components and produced with flame-retardant properties. The lid-to-body fit and cable entry points were revised at the CAD stage with manufacturability in mind.
Bodywork Component
A connecting part designed and produced for body integration. Because assembly tolerances were verified at the CAD stage, no revision was needed after production.
Production Fixture
A repeatable assembly fixture used on a production line. The small quantity and short lead time were decisive in choosing the production method.
